Global Compact

In 2021 weDO5 became a proud signatory of the UN Global Compact, the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world. It calls everyone everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We are deeply committed to incorporating the initiative and its principles into our strategy and corporate culture and are looking forward to work with more than 10,000 companies based in over 160 countries towards a more sustainable world and a better future.

WeDO5’s Commitment to Engaging with Our Stakeholders

WeDO5 is a non-profit organization that actively supports Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) through programs that help women found their own businesses, become independent, and earn a decent income. We are particularly committed to supporting women from migrant backgrounds. We recognize that it is important to start early to influence girls’ career choices, which is why we launched NextGenBiz, a program focused on girls.

We believe that engagement is essential to our success. We want to hear from our stakeholders, including our members, partners, funders, and the communities we serve. We want to understand their needs and perspectives, and we want to work together to achieve our shared goals.

In 2023, we engaged with our stakeholders in a variety of ways, including:

Website: We launched a new blog to share stories about the women we are helping and the impact of our work. We also collected feedback from our stakeholders on our website through a survey.
Social media: We shared stories and updates about our work on social media, and we engaged with our stakeholders in discussions about gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Events: We hosted two events in 2023, one for our members and partners and one for the communities we serve. At these events, we discussed important issues related to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and we heard from our stakeholders about their needs and perspectives.
One-on-one meetings: We met with our stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss their needs and perspectives, and to work together to achieve our shared goals.
Here are some specific examples of how we engaged with our stakeholders in 2023:

We shared the story of Maria, a woman who benefited from our NextGenBiz program, on our website and social media. Maria was able to start her own business selling handmade jewelry, and she is now able to support herself and her family.
We hosted a webinar on the importance of women’s entrepreneurship. The webinar was attended by over 100 people, including members of our community, partners, and funders.
We met with a group of women from migrant backgrounds to discuss their needs and challenges. We learned that many of these women are struggling to find jobs and support their families. We are working with our partners to develop programs that will help these women achieve their economic goals.
We are committed to being responsive to our stakeholders’ feedback. We used the feedback we received in 2023 to improve our programs, our work, and our impact.

We invite you to engage with us. We want to hear from you about your ideas, your concerns, and your experiences. We believe that together, we can create a more equitable world for all women.
